Happy Friday!
I have a bit of a shorter newsletter for you today. It’s been an unexpectedly busy week, so I’m a bit behind on the #content and I’m headed out of town for the weekend, meaning I can’t cram in a bit more today before I blast this out. But I do have a handful of my programs downloaded on my iPad for my flights, so hoping to do a little bit of catchup there.
Anyway, you’ll still some great recs below for your weekend — enjoy and chat next week!
Read
Tom Sandoval’s very ill-advised quote from his profile in the New York Times comparing Scandoval to the murder of George Floyd went viral this week, but the rest of the piece features plenty of other wild quotes that makes it worth the read. (Irina Aleksander for The New York Times)
If you’d prefer to just get the highlights, I unpacked the Tom Sandoval profile in the New York Times for you! (Gibson Johns for Betches)
If you’ve been loving how stars like Ayo Edebiri and Greta Lee have been dressing lately as much as I have, then you’ll appreciate this article about their stylist Danielle Goldberg. The plot twist here? She’s Something Navy founder Arielle Charnas’ sister. (Christopher Barnard for The New York Times)
What to make of Dakota Johnson’s viral press tour for “Madame Web” and what our reactions to it tell us about ourselves. (Richard Newby for The Hollywood Reporter)
Normani announced this week that her debut album is finally coming — and the announcement was accompanied by this profile in which she sheds (a little) light on her new music and reveals that one of the factors in the delay of the album was her parents’ dual cancer battles. (Jasmine Fox Suliaman for WWD)
A fun article about Matt Beloni, the host of one of my favorite podcasts called “The Town” and the scribe of a newsletter that every executive in Hollywood subscribes to. (Nicholas Quah for Vulture)
Listen
“Holy Week” Podcast (The Atlantic)
I’ve been binging this podcast that The Atlantic released last year that focuses on the intense week that followed Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination in 1968 and how it changed the course of civil rights in this country forever. It’s incredibly well-done, poignant and teaching me a lot.
Watch
“One Day” (Netflix)
I read the book that this series is based on back on high school, and it absolutely wrecked me. I’m happy to report that this new TV adaptation did the exact same (I never saw the Anne Hathaway-starring film adaptation — should I watch it?). It tracks two people who spark a romantic connection the night they graduate from university and checks in with them on the same day in July for the next 13 years as their relationship goes up and down, from friendship to something more ambiguous. I love that they chose to go with 14, 30-ish-minute episodes for this, and the two leads are fantastic.
Victoria Beckham’s Interview with The Run-Through (Vogue)
Ever since the “Beckham” docu-series, I’ve been eating up all things Beckham — more specifically, all things Victoria Beckham, who I think deserves her own docu-series titled “Victoria.” Anyway, this 15-minute interview with Vogue popped up on my YouTube sidebar this week and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Nobody’s doing it like her!

What to Make of Beyoncé’s Country Music Moment with Taylor Crumpton (“Gabbing with Gib”)
I’d been wanting to do an episode on Beyoncé for a while now, so her recent surprise drop of two new country songs from her forthcoming Renaissance act ii felt like the perfect excuse to make it happen. I invited my friend Taylor Crumpton, who wrote a viral article for TIME called “Beyoncé Has Always Been Country,” to come onto my show to unpack the significance of this moment in her career and much more. Listen below!
“Southern Hospitality” Star Joe Bradley Talks Season 2, Danielle Olivera Split & More (“Gabbing with Gib”)
As season 2 of Bravo’s “Southern Hospitality” came to a close with a fiery reunion this week, Joe Bradley came on my podcast to reflect on the season, give an update on his whirlwind romance with “Summer House” star Danielle Olivera, address those Countess Luann hookup rumors and more. Watch above or listen below!

I’m off to Durham, North Carolina for 48 hours this weekend to visit a couple of friends who are finishing up school down there. Looking forward to some time with old friends away from scrolling for the new couple days! :)
