I will always click on an interview with Fran Lebowitz, and this new one didn’t disappoint. (Jake Nevins for Interview Magazine)
A great think piece on “The White Lotus” character Saxon and the specific, troubling form of masculinity that he represents. (Ruy Spaeth for The Intelligencer)
“RHOBH” alum Teddi Mellencamp sat for an in-depth interview about her cancer battle. My heart goes out to her and her family, but her willingness to be open and vulnerable as she goes through the unimaginable should be commended. (Polly Hudson and Amanda Williams for Us Weekly)
Listen
“Inside Out: A Memoir” by Demi Moore (Audiobook)
I’m in my celebrity memoir audiobook era, and my latest listen was Demi Moore’s incredible “Inside Out,” which is one of the best celebrity memoirs I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading (and I’ve read a lot of them!). Beyond her raspy voice just being irresistible to listen to, she’s almost compulsively honest here, and some of her experiences growing up help to explain some of the highly-scrutinized decisions she made later in life. It’s emotional and raw and full of detail and genuine self-reflection, and just a really phenomenal listen that will give you an even greater appreciation for the star that is Demi Moore.
Why Is Utah Regulating Momfluencers? (“The Journal.”)
I had no idea that the Ruby Franke scandal has resulted in actual legislation that will impact the highly-saturated group of mom influencers in Utah—curious if it will impact my girls on “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”
Watch
“The Pitt” (Max)
There’s a reason why you’ve probably heard so many people talking about this show, which has generated an increasing amount of positive word of mouth as its first season continues to release new episodes week after week (weekly episode drops work, people!!!). It focuses on the emergency room at a Pittsburgh hospital, with each episode playing out in real time over the course of one hour as the staff juggles new patients, internal politics, their own personal dramas and more. It’s riveting, raw, real and simply gripping. And the way that the writers have been able to pepper in social commentary without it feeling preachy has been nothing short of superb. You still have time to binge the first season before next Thursday’s season finale… (It’s already been picked up for a second season.)
“Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer” (Netflix)
Binged this three-episode docu-series while at home with my parents, and we were fully locked into it. I was vaguely familiar with this story, which centers on a troubling trend of female sex workers going missing in Long Island, but the details are truly chilling. No spoilers, but there isn’t one of those docs that leaves you hanging in major way with its ending.
