Rachael Kirkconnell on “Call Her Daddy”
I’m still fascinated by just how many people are invested in ex-Bachelor Matt James’ sudden split from Rachael Kirkconnell, the woman he chose at the end of his season in the wake of a controversy involving old photos from her in college. Was it the scandal surrounding her back then that brought people back into the fold? His bizarre post announcing their breakup that we know now he psychotically posted three hours after he broke up with her in Japan while she was on a 12-hour flight with no WiFi without giving her a heads up? Who knows, but I am one of those people who was roped back into their story, and her interview with Alex Cooper was pretty vulnerable and raw. It also made me feel even more badly for her (which was the point), while also making me wonder if it was too soon for her to do an interview like this, as she still seems to be making excuses for his behavior.
Watch
Paradise (Hulu)
I can’t say much about this political thriller starring Sterling K. Brown and James Marsden without spoiling a major twist, but I just watched the first episode and I’m invested. It’s from Dan Fogelman, who also brought us “This Is Us” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”
“Glitter and Greed: The Lisa Frank Story” (Prime Video)
This four-part docu-series that came out in December wasn’t necessarily good, but it’s one of those docs that makes you rethink something you’re nostalgic about, which I always find to make for compelling tension. Bonus points for the fact that it tells a story I’d never heard before.
